Tucked into the southern foothills of the Macedon Ranges, about sixty kilometres from Melbourne, lies the small town of Riddells Creek. It’s a place best known for its roaming geese—feathered locals that split opinion between being a road hazard and an unexpected tourist attraction.
Just a stone’s throw from Riddells Creek Station sits a true country gem: a pub that, unlike the geese, unites everyone in agreement about its quality. Run by a duo of sisters, it’s the kind of quintessential country watering hole where honesty matters more than polish and good food speaks for itself.
There’s nothing pretentious here—not in the venue, not in the staff, and certainly not on the plate. The menu is simple, hearty, and family-friendly, complemented by a solid range of alcoholic beverages. A kids’ play area keeps the little ones busy while adults settle in, reminding you why places like this remain the heart of country towns.

We won the wombat! While we don’t always love that there is a kid arcade area (which they want coins for) this time we did win the largest soft toy wombat ever seen. Thank you ESK Amusements and pub staff who helped us get it from the machine. Back to the pub- always great service and food!

We had a table by the fire place and it was perfect. Smoky smell coupled well with the steak we ordered that day. Their steak was beyond our expectations for a 200gr.
And probably don’t forget to have a giggle by the poster at the bar 🤪

I was not overly impressed 😒 . The chicken in my risotto had skin on, didn't know that was a thing when paying for food. My mate ordered the buffalo chicken, and when she picked up the first piece, it had a hair dangling from it, it was deep fried into the crumb on the chicken tender . Upon talking to the manager, my friend was offered a complimentary dessert. I gave feedback on the skin situation and heard the chef say 'each to their own..'
Can't say I'll be back again
The manager tried her best
