We recently hosted a family gathering at Micawber Tavern at the beginning of December for a weekday lunch, and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out! After our original venue cancelled on us just 2 weeks before the date, we needed to find a place that could accommodate about 40 people within our budget and without sacrificing food quality.
From the first enquiry to the end of our lunch, the entire team was very pleasant to work with. Charli, Emma, and Renae from the functions team were so accommodating. Even though the Bistro area usually seats a larger group, they let us book the space exclusively for our smaller group because we loved the atmosphere of that area. They also worked with us to tailor a menu off their regular offerings to meet our specific dietary needs, and also making the whole booking and payment process incredibly smooth.
On the day, the restaurant staff were absolute superstars! They were friendly, professional, and so detail-oriented. They even took down a ceiling prop they felt didn't suit the vibe of our event impromptu!
As for the food, honestly we were bit worried the quality might dip when cooking for a large group, but we were so wrong! Everything was perfect, delicious, and served without delay.

Great venue. Love its uniqueness. Service was quick in being served to us. The steak was tender and delicious. I had the Monday special of Porterhouse with gravy or sauce. $28. If there is one complaint, it is the surprise of no seniors meal. Most venues cater a seniors menu, which is smaller and cheaper.i couldn’t eat all my meal despite it being delicious because i can no longer eat such big meals.. but other than that, lovely.

It was locals night and a lively atmosphere. However, the food was pretty terrible. The parma was rock hard and not to order, the beer battered fish was tasteless and mushy (probably frozen), the veggies were cold. The steak was good. Some staff were ok, some were rude. Not worth going back, unless you're there to drink.

Dined here yesterday. Tasty food. We ordered the lamb and irish chicken parmigiana and they didn’t disappoint. The serving was big so the price was worth it.
Great interior design, too. And the drinks have a kick.
The only downside was the service provided by one of the female front staff whose name I believe starts with N (with the thick fake eyelash). We ordered cocktail and beer thru the qr code and had to wait for 30 mins. She was unapologetic and insensitive after our following-up. The same happened with our main meal. When followed-up, she only said “it’s been made” blatantly. No smile. Just smug.
Can definitely smell racism there as we are Asians. Her demeanour was totally upsetting and disappointing. Definitely needs a character check.

We visited for lunch mid-week with a large group of older adults visiting the nearby Birdsland Reserve. The team handled all our queries and amendments to orders with professionalism. The seniors set menu is great value with a main, dessert and drink for $30. With just two staff members working the floor - both food service and the bar (Shannon and co.) - they should be commended for ‘working under extreme duress’ with such a large booking and managing all other patrons simultaneously, as one of our group members pointed out. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful but the service was most commendable. Congrats team!
