We headed out to Altona to check out Bam Street Food and their August special - the Double Truffle Burger ($20). JUST WOW 👏👏 Double smash patties (thin, crispy, those lattice edges were the stuff of dreams), a proper hit of truffle aioli, 4 types of cheese melting into each other, smoky-sweet caramelised onions, and potato straws for extra crunch. Every bite was layered, rich, and so satisfying. So sad this is off the menu.
We also went for the MMM Chicken Burger ($15) and added a Nashville tender for extra spice. The server hyped up their MMM sauce - a maple, mustard, mayo blend - and it definitely brought sweet, smoky vibes with some freshness from the added veggies. Tasty overall, but when something says Nashville, I want the heat dialled right up. The sauce overpowered what little spice the tender had, so it didn’t quite hit the fiery punch I was hoping for. Still, the flavours were layered and the unmelted cheese gave it a nice textural bite.
Couldn’t resist the onion rings ($7) and they were incredible. Perfectly fried, crunchy, seasoned just right - everything you want in an onion ring.
For a burger spot I haven’t heard many people raving about, Bam Street Food really surprised me. Their smashed patties are next level, and I’m still thinking about that Double Truffle Burger. Definitely worth a visit and barely any wait!

Perfectly smashed burgers. Rivals Leon’s Smash burgers, but much easier to get and quite an extensive menu. The tacos are crazy good. If you like smash burgers with a good crispy Maillard reaction going on these are basically perfection. A bit nit picky but some other places like Elmo’s does better buns and I think bacon should have more of a crispiness. Nonetheless will definitely try to visit again and get some more burgers and tacos. The area is lucky to have this! Side note if driving Google maps directs to the small street next to them, better to go round and park in the main parking area and walk over.

Delicious!!! 10/10
I had heard about this place from some locals and finally gave it a go. Did not disappoint, the Nashville tenders & fries were so fresh and tasted great. The ranch sauce was by far the best I’ve had!
I saw others dining in with their burgers and they all looked so amazing.
Definitely worth a visit here!

Probably the best smash burger in Melbourne, the thin crust on the edge of the burger spilling out of the bun is pure art. Great sauces on the BAM and cheeseburger. The staff are energetic and very welcoming too, a must try on the west 🙏

I don’t even have the words to describe how delicious the burgers are here! All I’ll say is that if you’re a burger lover, especially a smash patty stan, Bam Street food needs to be on your list of places to try!
