Some real authentic Vietnamese food. First step in and your met with busy crowd of customers eating. It’s fairly noisey and overwhelming. This is where the locals go and you will know why, once you try the food.
The customer service is good and the chefs making the food are lovely. You’re treated well. I got the crab noodle and my god was it delicious. The portion and the price are fairly good. Please don’t be discouraged to try! A wonderful restaurant to visit if you crave some authentic food.

Tucked away without any fuss or flash, this humble Vietnamese restaurant quietly serves some of the most comforting food you’ll find. The broken rice is the star - fragrant, perfectly cooked, and generously topped with beautifully grilled meats that are smoky, tender, and full of flavour. Every plate feels thoughtful and honest, the kind of meal made by people who truly care about what they’re serving.
There’s a warmth here that goes beyond the food. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, and the service is genuinely kind without being showy. You can taste tradition in every bite — from the crisp pickles to the rich sauces that tie the whole dish together.
This is not a place trying to impress with trends or gimmicks. It impresses by doing the basics exceptionally well. If you’re looking for soulful Vietnamese food that feels like a home-cooked meal, this little broken rice spot is an absolute gem.

Nice Vietnamese restaurant in Footscray. Worth trying only if you don't mind the atmosphere. Typical Asian restaurant with less than ideal dining environment. Staff with limited English proficiency and could be difficult to communicate at times.

I went to Tan Thanh Loi in Footscray and had the pork on rice. Even though it was busy, the food came out quickly. The pork was tasty and the whole meal hit the spot. The main strip in Footscray might be quiet, but this place is always full for a reason.

This place is an institution for Vietnamese grilled pork chop. We both ordered rice vermicelli with grilled pork chop. There were no spring rolls left so the waitress suggested adding some prawns instead. A delightful dinner, efficient service, long time favourite of ours.
