Before leaving this store, double-check your receipt. Items are often double-scanned or discounts missed, resulting in customers paying full price. This is not a one-off occurrence. At the same time, customers are closely watched while shopping, which creates an uncomfortable atmosphere. Even using the bathroom requires permission, and customers are followed there like school children — it’s honestly quite degrading. By comparison, The Good Food Emporium offers a far more welcoming environment and a much better café experience. The main reason for this review, however, is the service I received this evening. Wholefoods’ customer service continues to disappoint. I called earlier to check Christmas Eve closing hours but, as usual, no one answered. Google listed the closing time as 6pm. We arrived at 4:45pm (giving us over an hour to shop), only to find staff manually opening and closing the doors and informing customers we had “15 minutes left.” While shopping, we were followed around the store and told to make our way to the registers — particularly by a middle-aged woman with short blonde hair and piercings. This behaviour was unprofessional, unnecessary, and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. This store consistently treats customers like children, which unfortunately aligns with previous experiences here. If you don’t wish to pay staff beyond a certain time, that’s understandable — but update your opening hours online and don’t take it out on customers. Basic hospitality standards are clearly lacking, and staff would benefit greatly from proper customer service training.
