⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4.5/5) Overall: delicious, indulgent pastries and cinnamon scrolls. So glad we finally paid Simply Mike’s a visit before they move to Brunswick at the end of the month. We pre-ordered online to make sure we got what we wanted — you can select your own pickup time, and there are no surcharges for online orders or weekend pickup. Service was friendly, and you can choose to have the pastries at room temperature or heated. We opted for room temp as we weren’t eating them straight away, but definitely reheat them before eating — they’re so much better warm. The air fryer is a quick option, but I found reheating in the oven at a lower temperature gave the best result, heating them through without affecting the texture. Cinnamon scroll $6.50 (4.5/5) - easily the best cinnamon scroll I’ve had in Melbourne. The frosting-to-filling-to-bun ratio is perfect, the frosting tastes great, and the sweetness level is spot on. That said, it’s not your typical cinnamon bun — the texture is closer to cake than bread, making it a bit heavier and more indulgent than expected. Still incredibly fluffy, and I’ll definitely be back to try the flavoured versions. (Microwaved for 45 seconds) 🐔 Chicken, Leek & Mushroom Quiche $9.50 (4/5) - good pastry and a tasty filling, with chicken that stayed moist. The only downside was that it was a little too salty. (Air-fried for 3 minutes at 180°C, then 2 minutes at 165°C) 🐷 Ham & Cheese Quiche $9.50 (4.8/5) - the filling here was better than the chicken quiche. A classic combo done really well — juicy and satisfying. Could also use slightly less salt, but that’s just personal preference. (Baked for 9 minutes at 155°C) 🥐 Pandan Croissant $7 (4.8/5) The croissant itself was good, but the filling was the standout. Generous and not overly sweet, though I would’ve loved a stronger pandan flavour as it’s quite subtle. (Baked for 4 minutes at 150°C) Simply Mike’s will be a great addition to Brunswick, and I’m really looking forward to seeing their menu expand.
