Overall: delicious food, can’t wait to come back and try more.
This was our first time visiting Dulce, so glad we did and definitely won’t be the last time. We came across an Instagram reel and that’s how we discovered the place and to be honest weren’t so sure if it’d be any good. Funnily enough, someone I know speaks highly of this place so we decided to finally give this place a visit. They actually recently opened a store in Southbank which would be more convenient, but we decided to the Delahey store as it is the OG store 😅
They have got quite a variety to choose from - mostly sweets but also some savoury options.
What we ordered:
Vanilla slice $7 (4.5/5) - hands down one of the best vanilla slices I’ve had. The pastry was flaky and buttery, and the consistency of the filling was perfect - creamy, smooth, and it wasn’t very sweet and didn’t have a strong vanilla taste which is how I like my vanilla slice.
Matcha vanilla slice $8 (4.8/5) - has a strong matcha flavour, so if you love matcha, definitely try this (FYI this is only available at their Delahey location). Similar to the OG vanilla slice, the pastry and the filling were absolutely delicious, extra points for the matcha flavour that actually stood out as I find that a lot of matcha desserts have very faint matcha flavour.
Coffee cake $5.5 (5/5) - not actually sure what this is called as there was no sign. Like the matcha vanilla slice, I love that the coffee flavour was strong. There’s a thick layer of cream, but it’s so delicious and light, and the sponge cake was moist. All the layers just went so well together. This was a bit sweeter compared to the vanilla slices, but not overly sweet.
Loved everything, will try their empanadas next and possibly more sweet treats!
While it is not the cheapest for a vanilla slice and they do have a 10% Sunday surcharge, and a 1.6% card surcharge, the food was totally worth it in my opinion.

The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the warm, comforting smell of freshly baked bread and pastries. Everything looks (and tastes) amazing from their buttery croissants to the soft, flavourful cakes. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about the quality of what they make. The presentation is beautiful, and every bite feels like it’s made with love. Definitely my go-to spot whenever I’m craving something sweet or just want a cozy place to relax with a coffee. Highly recommend!

Honestly one of the best bakeries in the west! Dulce’s pastries and coffee are always on point, but their sponge cakes… that’s where diet plans go to die haha - and worth every calorie!! Don’t you hate it when you buy a cake and it turns out dry?? well not here! You can finally stop searching coz the best and most consistent strawberry sponge cakes are right here. You wont regret coming back!
The strawberries and cream is unreal. Sponge is light and fluffy, never dry, the cream’s always smooth and consistent, and that layer of caramel through the middle just seals the deal. Perfect ratio of sponge to cream to strawberries. It’s the kind of cake that makes you lose any self control you thought you had left.
The coffee and cream sponge is just as amazing - rich flavour, not too sweet, and ridiculously moreish. You can tell everything’s made with care, good ingredients and proper technique (no shortcuts here).
I’m a local and have noticed how much busier they’ve gotten lately which is great to see. Like any fast growing business, they’re working through a few growing pains but honestly the team’s still friendly and doing their best to keep up. It’s a small crew running a buzzing café and they’re doing a solid job.

I was recommended to come here by a good friend specifically for the caramel slice. Great place, amazing caramel slice. My only issue is nothing is sign posted or has a price attached.
I read reviews prior to going and someone had also raised that it would be good to have item and price signs which was replied to saying it was in the works- that was over 2 years ago.
