If you’re keen on some proper Kerala Beef Fry and Porotta, Kolapasi is the spot. The beef fry wasn’t crazy spicy, but it packed heaps of flavour. Wish the serving was a bit bigger for what you pay, though.
The place itself is tidy and welcoming, with a nice, relaxed vibe. The staff were legends — super friendly and helpful. One of them even pointed out a few deals that saved me a bit of cash, which was a nice touch.
Getting there was a bit of a mission — the GPS directions were all over the shop. But once you find it, it’s absolutely worth the effort.

As always, Kolapasi brings the flavours and essence of home in every dish.
Tried the unlimited buffet with Biriyani rice, Ghee rice, Chicken chukka, Chicken 65, mutton perattal, parotta and idiyappam with Elaneer payasam as desert. Food was great and no complaints. Entire staff members were so helpful and the didn’t hesitate to talk to me to get my feedback and share their upcoming promotions, especially Jagadish who made sure I’m satisfied from entry till exit, took the feedbacks positive. Music was bit loud but the atmosphere was good.

"Kolapasi" is a tamil restaurant here in Melbourne. I visited the coolaro branch today, the team had arranged "Non-veg buffet"
Menu was quite simple yet appealing, The main part is that they serve hot parotas and idiyapam when required. Staffs are friendly. The waiting time was also reasonable. They picked the "call" real quick that shows they are attentive in picking calls as well.

This place is a hidden gem.
The owner gave us samples of all curries before we committed.
The flavours here are typical is south India - both veg and non veg options.
The best value is their rice pack - two curries and biriyani with yoghurt on the side.
Coconut payasam is epic - it’s a milky coconut sweet drink. Goes well with spicy curries.
Definitely worth the drive to come here, it’s the best

I had the chance to try lunch here today (Sept 19, 2025). Honestly, it was way above my expectations.
We ordered the Non-Veg Thali, Mutton Biryani and Parotta with Mutton Perattal.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Mutton Biryani – Perfectly cooked, easily one of the authentic Indian biryanis you’ll find in Melbourne.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Parotta with Mutton Perattal – Must try for Parotta lover who like to pair with spicy chennai style Mutton gravy🤤
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Non-Veg Thali – The BEST!
It comes with steamed rice, ghee rice, mutton, chicken, beef, chicken kuzhambu, payasam, curd, and more.
Without a doubt, the best thali I’ve had in and around Melbourne.
Service - Kudos to Krithika and the restaurant staff for making sure we had a great time.
Three of us went in with zero expectations and they didn’t disappoint!
